A little Angular toy inspired by the classic sfxr — retro game sound effects dialed in with rotary knobs.

Playground: 8-bit SFX Generator

A small toy, nothing more — a browser take on the classic sfxr generator of 8-bit game sound effects, rebuilt as an Angular app.

Every parameter — envelope, vibrato, frequency, slide, phaser, filters — is controlled by a rotary knob, just like on a hardware synth. Grab a knob, drag, and listen. If you don’t feel like turning knobs, the presets on the left (Pickup/Coin, Laser/Shoot, Explosion…) get you a usable sound in one click, and Randomize / Mutate take care of happy accidents. Generated sounds pile up in a history panel, ready to export.

Keyboard does the rest: Space plays the current sound, S saves it into the history.

Heads up: the app is not responsive. It’s built for a desktop screen with a mouse — on a phone or tablet the layout falls apart and the knobs are no fun to control.
